Mind4Machines - Smart Tool / CAM integration

In a strategic move to lower the barrier to entry for smart tools in the High-Mix Low-Volume manufacturing segment, My Tool iT, in collaboration with Aixpath and Haidlmair, is proud to introduce the "SmartToolCAM" project in the Mind4Machines community. Sensory tool systems have been a game-changer for several years, offering tremendous optimization potential by providing real-time insights into the process condition. However, large-scale adoption has been hindered by the absence of established workflows, especially between CAD/CAM and production processes. SmartToolCAM is set to change this paradigm by integrating the setup procedure for sensory tools directly into the CAM process.

The vision behind SmartToolCAM:

SmartToolCAM aims to develop a reference implementation that demonstrates the seamless configuration of sensory tool systems within the computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) environment. This vertical integration of sensory extensions into the production workflow is expected to drive the widespread adoption of sensory tools.

By bridging the gap between CAD/CAM and production for the utilization of sensory tools, the project SmartToolCAM will enable manufacturers to harness the full potential of sensory data. It will empower them to make data-driven decisions, optimize processes, and enhance efficiency in High-Mix Low-Volume manufacturing.

The project represents a significant step towards revolutionizing manufacturing practices and addressing the industry's pressing need for integrated sensory solutions.

Stay tuned for more updates on the SmartToolCAM project, which promises to redefine the future of High-Mix Low-Volume manufacturing. To learn more about the consortium partners and the project's objectives, visit the following websites for further details:

Mind4Machines is a project funded by the European Commission's Horizon 2020 INNOSUP Programme with a budget of 5 million euros to support innovation for SMEs focused on the digitization of the manufacturing industry. The project aims to facilitate the cross-sectoral and cross-border support needed by manufacturing SMEs to test and adopt the latest digital technologies for transformation towards smarter, greener, and more resource-efficient manufacturing, aligned with the latest EU policies. The project consortium is composed of 11 European partners from 8 European countries.

The project offers a range of digital solutions and technologies to provide SMEs and startups with the necessary tools to meet both digitalization and sustainability industry challenges. Manufacturing companies are invited to use the Open Innovation Space of Mind4Machines to search for solutions for digitalization of production processes. Technology providing SMEs and startups are invited to offer solutions to the manufacturing companies' needs via Mind4Machines' Open Innovation Space and with this solution proposal apply to the Open Calls to get funded.
